Member membership is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated the required knowledge across the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) competence frameworks, enabling them to effectively support the work of a neutral in at least one dispute resolution discipline. This grade recognises professionals who have developed a solid understanding of ADR principles and practices through relevant training, qualifications or professional experience. Member status signifies a higher level of competence and commitment to the field, and individuals who attain this grade are entitled to use the designation MCIArb, reflecting their professional standing within the global dispute resolution community. As a member, your profile will feature in Ciarb’s Member’s Directory.

Requirements

If you’re interested in becoming a member, you must complete one of the following qualifications as part of the pathways to membership:  

• The Ciarb Assessment route - successfully complete any one of Ciarb’s Module One or Accelerated Route to Membership assessments; *you apply for membership within two years of completion.
• The Recognised Course Provider route - successfully complete an accredited assessment with one of Ciarb’s active Recognised Course Providers (RCP); *you apply for membership within two years of completion.
• The Experience route - have a minimum of five years of first-hand experience in dispute resolution and have been involved in at least five cases in at least one dispute resolution discipline (either arbitration, mediation or adjudication). This experience should demonstrate active participation in the management of proceedings, involvement in settlement negotiations, and attendance at hearings, resulting in an award, decision or settlement agreement. This route is suitable for those who have served in roles such as Lead Counsel, Arbitrator, Mediator or Adjudicator.
